Video Editing 101

Getting Started

The following is a list of resources designed to get your class up and running producing videos for their class projects.

Adobe has an excellent site geared toward helping students learn about the video editing process. Click Here to check out their site.

Pre-Production

Before the students start there project they should complete a Student Video Project Proposal Form for approval. This will ensure that the teacher is aware of the intentions of each group prior to shooting.

Some resources you need to get started are a shotlist (Adobe Acrobat Viewer Needed), a two column script (Microsoft Word required) and a storyboard (Adobe Acrobat Viewer Needed) .

Production

Prior to shooting have students review the Production section on the Adobe Video for Kids website. Check out the Digital Kids Club Video Tips section on Adobe's website.

Post-Production

After shooting the video follow the steps of post-production which includes the downloading of your footage from the camera to the computer and editing of the footage on computer. You can find out more about these steps by clicking here..

In our lab we use windows MovieMaker for video editing. Click here to learn more about using Windows MovieMaker.
